Whitewater, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater wrestling team opened their Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference slate with a big team win over UW-Oshkosh. The Warhawks topped the Titans 38-9 in their first home dual of the 2025-26 campaign.
UWW registered extra point victories in five of the first six matches of the dual.
Brady Phelps (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) set the tone right off the bat in his first collegiate dual bout. The freshman needed just 2:41 to pin Oshkosh's JP Culver and give UWW a 6-0 lead.
Jordan Rasof (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) and
Justin Fortugno (Armonk, N.Y./Byram Hills) followed with back-to-back technical falls. Rasof added five points to the team total after topping Ryan Hanson 19-4 in 4:05. Fortugno, ranked tenth nationally, defeated Logan Harel at 141 pounds by a score of 22-5 in 5:15 to make it 16-0 in favor of UW-Whitewater.

Lucio Morgan (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) in 4:12.
Luke Swan (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) and

Swan defeated Oshkosh's Jacob Hibbard 16-1 while third-ranked Peet racked up the points to win by technical fall, 18-3, over Ryan Bergman. Oddly, both matches took exactly the same time, 4:51. At 174 pounds,
Jermaine Butler (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor), ranked twelfth, sealed the team victory with a 13-6 decision over Nathan Lenz-Messman.
Gavin Kohel (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) posted one of the most thrilling bouts of the evening. The junior, ranked 13th nationally, had a move that words do not do justice. The lightning fast takedown led to a pin of Garrett Fuller and a 36-6 Warhawk lead.
UWO took the 197 pound weight class as Richie Amakiri topped
Tyler Haydon (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) by 9-5 decision.
Isaak Smith (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) put the finishing touches on the dual with a 10-5 decision over Roman Martell for the 38-9 final.
