Bowlers Claim Title at DII Invite

The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team won a pair of matches on bracket Sunday to claim the title at the 2025 DII Invite hosted by Lewis. 

Entering the day as the third seed, the Warhawks made quick work of their opening match against the second seed, Newman. UWW took the opener 233-199 before Newman tied it up with a 160-201 game two win. The Warhawks won the next three - 194-183, 252-184, 196-154 - to advance to the championship. 

The Baker series for the title went seven games with UW-Whitewater mounting the comeback. Central Missouri took a 2-0 lead in the match with wins of 173-189, 161-187 to open the series. The Warhawks responded by winning three consecutive to take the lead - 185-142, 195-174, 226-177. UCM extended the match with a 181-244 win in the sixth game before UWW secured the championship with a 165-137 win in game seven. 

With the win, UW-Whitewater wraps up its fall slate and will return to action at the end of January.

Day Two Recap
The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team is in third place after two days of competition in the DII Invite hosted by Lewis. 

The Warhawks posted over 1,000 in two traditional matches to bolster a team total of 4,766 Saturday. UWW's two day total of 9,578 averages out to 191.6 per game. 

Elizabeth Vanderhei (Mukwonago, Wis./Mukwonago) was the top Warhawk on the individual leaderboard with a total of 1,012 to finish tenth. Zoey Darwin (Monona, Wis./Monona Grove) and Ashley Bowe (Brillion, Wis./Brillion) finished 22nd and 23rd respectively with averages of 191 or higher. Emily Rusk (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) rounded out the UWW bowlers among the top 25 with an average of 187.40. Jordyn Norvell (Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Tremper) also bowled all five for the Warhawks Saturday accumulating a total pinfall of 905.

UW-Whitewater will open Sunday against Belmont Abbey.

Day One Recap
The UW-Whitewater women's bowling team is currently in second place after day one at the DII Invite hosted by Lewis. The tournament field features 11 teams. 

The Warhawks went 4-0 on day one accumulating a total pinfall of 4,812 -- an average of 192.5 per Baker game. UWW recorded games of 979, 937, 956, 990 and 950 Friday. 

UW-Whitewater continues competition Saturday with five traditional team games before capping the invite Sunday in bracket play.
