Rock Island, Ill. -- The UW-Whitewater men's cross country program competed in two meets at the Augustana Interregional Invitational Saturday including finishing 12th in a field of 36 teams in the Gold race .
The Augustana Interregional features some of the top competition in the country annually. This year, 13 teams represented in the Gold race are ranked or receiving votes in the most recent United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll.
Dan Anderson (Eau Claire, Wis./McDonell) paced the Warhawks with a season-best time of 24:41 to finish 11th in a field of over 300 runners.
Alex Metko (Brillion, Wis./) posted a time of 25:30 while
Tucker Johnson (Poynette, Wis./) crossed the line in 25:43 to finish among the top 100. Also representing UW-Whitewater in the Gold race were Matt Andreano (26:04), Conner Murphy (26:06),
Brandon Massman (Belvidere, Ill./North) (26:07),
Jonah Block (Whitefish Bay, Wis./) (26:16),
Andrew Beyer (Algonquin, Ill./Jacobs) (26:22),
Keegan Bratt (Waukesha, Wis./West) (26:25) and
Kody Wassman (Ormsby, Minn./Mountain Lake) (26:35).
The men's Blue race featured over 400 runners from 32 teams. UWW's top five included
Nick Wendl (Milwaukee, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) (26:51),
Ryan Van Dam (Glen Ellen, Ill./Glenbard East) (27:04),
Jordan Loferski (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Hamilton) (27:16),
Rhett Reuter (Darlington, Wis./Darlington) (27:18),
Adrian Ahuatl (St. Charles, Ill./East) (27:39) and
Drew Davey (Elkhorn, Wis./) (27:48) who all finished among the top third.
