Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Carollo's Fifth Straight Double-Double Leads Warhawks over Pointers

Senior guard Kacie Carollo (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) tallied her fifth consecutive double-double as the #20 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team topped UW-Stevens Point 70-54.

The Pointers dropped in the first three points of the contest, but the Warhawks responded with a 13-0 run and never looked back. The margin dipped into single digits just twice after that early run -- once near the end of the first quarter and the other midway through the third.

UWW shot 43% from the floor and 44% from long range. The free throw line provided a hefty advantage for UW-Whitewater as the Warhawks hit 20-23 while UWSP was just 6-7.

Carollo led the Warhawks with 22 points on 7-15 from the field including 1-1 from beyond the arc and 7-8 from the charity stripe. She added 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in 37 minutes played. Mallory Oloffson (Normal, Ill./Normal Community) was 6-10 from the floor for 12 points adding 3 assists. Mia Gillis (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic) hit 5-6 from the free throw line on a 7-point night while hauling in 5 boards and grabbing a pair of steals.

Just passed the halfway point of the WIAC slate, the Warhawks are third in the conference standings with a 5-3 mark in league play. UW-Oshkosh holds the top spot at 7-1 followed by 6-2 UW-Stout.

At halftime of the contest, UW-Whitewater recognized student-athletes that earned All-America honors, won individual national titles and/or were named national athletes of the year during the 2024 calendar year including Carollo and former teammate Aleah Grundahl (DeForest, Wis./DeForest)
