The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team defeated UW-Platteville 39-6 in a road dual Saturday morning.
Jalen Dunson (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park River Forest), ranked fourth in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association individual rankings, set the tone with a technical fall at 125 pounds. Dunson topped Chris Karbash 17-2 in just 3:13 to give UWW a quick 5-0 lead in the match.
The Pioneers claimed the lead as Brady Grennan won by fall over
Ethan Agnew (De Pere, Wis./West De Pere) in 3:34 at 133 pounds, but UW-Whitewater would win out the rest of the weight classes.
At 141 pounds,
Cale Stonitsch (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka) secured a 13-7 decision over Zack Ries.
Lucio Morgan (Deerfield, Ill./Deerfield) followed with a 19-4 (4:45) technical fall over Trent DuMont.
Luke Swan (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) tallied an 8-0 major decision over Platteville's David Cushman at 157 pounds. At 165 pounds,
Jermaine Butler (Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) picked up another tech fall for UWW defeating Blake Delsman 21-4 (6:24).
Ryan Riser (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) made it back-to-back technical falls with a 17-2 (3:17) win over Cole Smith in the 174-pound weight class.
Gavin Kohel (River Falls, Wis./River Falls) won by forfeit at 184 followed by an 8-3 decision for
Evan Danowski (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) over Kain Killmer at 197.
Isaak Smith (Rockton, Ill./Hononegah) wrapped up the dual with a 7-3 decision over Alex Ashauer at 285.
The Warhawks also sent a contingent to compete in the Harper Open. The squad included
