The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team fell 99-69 at home to UW-Eau Claire. The Blugolds got hot early, and didn't falter as they shot 64% from the floor and 61% from beyond-the-arc.
Warhawk guard
Jameer Barker (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) hit a career milestone, surpassing 1000 career points as a Warhawk. Barker finished with a team-high 20-points, hitting the 1K mark early in the second half off a three-pointer.
UW-Eau Claire controlled the first half, outscoring the Warhawks 61-38 in the first 20 minutes. The Blugolds shot 75% from the floor while also making 11 of their 16 threes.Â
The Warhawks were unable to keep up with the Blugolds attack, but UWW shot 46% from the and 50% from beyond the arc in the first half.
Out of the break, the Warhawks started to close the Blugold lead, cutting it down to 18 before a 15-0 UWEC run put the visitors up by over 30 points.Â
The Warhawks were unable to overcome that deficit with the time, as UW-Eau Claire started playing deep into the shot clock on offense.
Barker led the Warhawks with his 20 points, hitting four threes in the contest.
Luke Bara (Waukesha, Wis./Muskego) added 9 points.
Isaac Verges (Franklin, Wis.) and
Carter Capstran (Franklin, Wis./) each finished with 7.
Joey Berezowitz (Burlington, Wis./) finished with 5 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals.
Kelton McEwen (Bartlett, Ill./St. Francis) matched Berezowitz with 3 assists of his own.
Jake Quast (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) led the Warhawks on the board, pulling down 6 rebounds in the contest.
The Warhawks have a tough road match ahead, as they had to the No 1. ranked team in the nation on Wednesday night. UWW tips off against UW-Platteville at 7 pm on January 22nd.
