The UW-Whitewater wrestling team fell to UW-Parkside, ranked third in Division II, 39-8 Friday night in Kenosha.
Luke Berktold (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) opened the night with an extra point win at 125 pounds. Berktold racked up the points with four takedowns in the bout to defeat Konstantinos Papadopoulos by 20-5 technical fall (7:00).
The Rangers' responded with three consecutive technical fall victories. Matthew Chi, ranked fifth in Division II at 133 pounds, defeated UWW's
Tyler Weidman (Grayslake, Ill./Grayslake Central) 20-4 (4:32). Top ranked Caden Henschel defeated
Brian Whipple (Eagle, Wis./Mukwonago) by 21-3 (4:16) at 141 and Easton Worachek topped
Jalin Conner (Milwaukee, Wis./Bradley Tech) 15-0 (6:53) at 149 to give UW-Parkside a 15-5 advantage.
Luke Swan (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) added three to the Warhawks' total with a massive decision over fourth-ranked Ben Durocher at 157 pounds. After just one point on a escape through the first two periods, Swan opted for neutral in the third period. He registered the takedown and a four-point nearfall for the 7-1 decision.
UWP ran out the rest of the dual with Dajun Johnson winning by fall over
Aden Byal (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) (3:57) at 165, Crosby Schlosser topping
