Warhawk Men close game on 8-0 run to take down the Titans, 59-56

Box Score The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team finished strong to earn a tough road win against UW-Oshkosh, 59-56. Both teams fought the whole contest with six ties and nine lead changes throughout the game.

The Warhawks started out on fire, hitting their first seven shots of the game. The hot shooting pushed the Warhawks up 17-6 by the first media timeout. 

UW-Oshkosh started to find their grove, slowly closing the gap. The Titans put together a 13-2 run, fueled by three consecutive treys all from Carter Thomas. 

In the last few minutes of the half, the lead flipped back-&-forth, but the Warhawks ended on a 5-0 run to enter the break up by three, 35-32.

It was a shootout for the majority of the second half, with neither team able to put together a run. Neither team lead by more than three points for the first stretch of the half. 

After a bit of scoring slump for both teams, UW-Oshkosh tallied a 7-0 run to go up by six with nine minutes left. The Warhawks kept it close, but Oshkosh stayed just ahead. The Titans hit a three at the under three to go up by five points.

The Warhawks closed out the game on an 8-0 run, pulling ahead in the final minutes for the win. Collin Madson (Mukwonago, Wis./) and Jake Quast (Hinsdale, Ill./Central) both hit key free throws to keep the Warhawks up.

Scoring was a balanced effort from UWW, with five players over five points.

Carter Capstran (Franklin, Wis./) led the Warhawks with 14 points. Luke Bara (Waukesha, Wis./Muskego) added in 12 points of his own and dished out four assists in the contest.

Quast led the Warhawks on the board with 12, Quast added in nine points of his own and four blocks on the defensive end. Madson finished with eight points and five rebounds.

Oshkosh's Carter Thomas led the scoring for the Titans with 22 points.
