The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team opened the 2025 season with a 189.475-187.050 win over UW-Stout in a road dual Friday evening.
Carley Scott (Oak Grove, Mo./Grain Valley) paced the Warhawks in the first rotation with a 9.625 on the uneven bars - the top score on the apparatus Friday.
Paige Magel (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) added a 9.525 to claim bronze while
Ariana Goodwin (Elgin, Ill./The Einstein Academy) added a 9.5 followed by a 9.425 from
Ava Pesch (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) and a 9.4 from
Hayden Gough (Dallas, Texas/Dallas International School).
In the second rotation, it was
Chloe Hammond (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) leading UW-Whitewater. Her vault scored 9.65 to finish second individually in the event.
Carleigh Moore (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) scored a 9.525 while
Alayna Fern (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) and Pesch tallied matching 9.5's.
Maliyah Pound (Blaine, Minn./Spring Lake Park) rounded out the scoring five with a 9.375.
A pair of Warhawks shared gold on the floor exercise. Moore and
Kelsey Kollhoff (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) each scored a 9.6 to win the event. Hammond tied for fourth with a 9.525.
Danielle Dudziak (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele) added a 9.4 and Magel wrapped up UWW's scoring five with a 9.35.
Hammond closed the meet with the best beam score of the night - 9.675. UW-Whitewater gymnasts claimed fifth through tenth including scores counting toward the team total from
Kristen Swiebocki (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) (9.475), Kollhoff (9.45),
Megan Gorney (Bay City, Mich./John Glenn) (9.325) and
Sofia Spadafora (Windsor, Ontario, Canada/Saint Thomas of Villanova) (9.275).
The Warhawks will host their first meet of the 2025 campaign Saturday, January 18. UWW will host Simpson College for the dual that is designated as Parent's Night, 10.0 Club Night and
Kara Welsh (Plainfield, Ill./Central) Night. The meet is set to begin at 4 PM.
