Box Score The Warhawk defense was stifling in a 79-42 win over Lycoming in UW-Whitewater's final game of the Daytona Beach Shootout in Florida Saturday. UWW held their opponents to single digit scoring in two quarters. 

The Warhawks took a hefty lead, 25-12, in the first quarter and never looked back. Kacie Carollo (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) hit 3-4 including knocking down both of her shots from behind the arc for 10 points in the quarter. 

Maggie Trautsch (Sun Prairie, Wis./DeForest) took over in the second quarter with nine points on 4-6 from the floor in the period. The Warhawks held Lycoming to just nine points in ten minutes, outscoring the Warriors 22-9 to hold a 47-21 lead at the break. 

Seven Warhawks scored in the third quarter as UW-Whitewater extended the lead further. UWW held Lycoming to just eight points in the period. 

UW-Whitewater used points off turnovers (29-9) and points in the paint (32-12) to build the lead throughout the game. The Warhawks forced 19 Warrior turnovers in the contest and out-rebounded Lycoming 41-23 leading to a 16-3 sway in second chance points. 

Trautsch led UWW in the scoring column with 13. Carollo pitched in ten and added team highs in rebounds (8) and assists (6). Mia Gillis (Mundelein, Ill./Carmel Catholic) was a perfect 4-4 from the field to add nine points in the contest. 

The now 9-1 Warhawks will return to Wisconsin to host Calvin in the final game of 2024. Tipoff in Kachel Gymnasium is set for 1 PM on Monday, December 30. UW-Whitewater will open Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play in 2025 starting with UW-River Falls on January 4.
