The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's gymnastics team fell to UW-La Crosse 190.200-188.350 in the Warhawks' first home dual of the season Saturday.
Carleigh Moore (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) led UWW in the team's first event of the day. Her 9.7 on the vault was best at the meet.
Ava Pesch (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) added a 9.625, tied for fourth, while
Chloe Hammond (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny) posted a score of 9.6 to tie for sixth.
Danielle Dudziak (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele) (9.575) and
Elena Bailey (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) (9.5) rounded out the scoring five as UW-Whitewater opened the meet with a 48.000, the team's top event total of the evening.
On the uneven bars,
Carley Scott (Oak Grove, Mo./Grain Valley) registered the top score for the Warhawks. Her 9.6 was good for second-place in the event. Pesch was fifth with a score of 9.35 while
Paige Magel (Cary, Ill./Prairie Ridge) (9.225),
Hayden Gough (Dallas, Texas/Dallas International School) (8.925) and
Kelsey Kollhoff (Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg) (8.825) added to the team total.
Sarah Knetzke (Ozark, Mo./Springfield Catholic) paced the Warhawks on the balance beam with a score of 9.625 to finish third on the apparatus.
Ashnaya Gupta (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) tied for fourth with a routine that scored 9.575. Magel added a 9.525, tied for sixth at the meet, while
Tegan Haberstock (Alberta, Canada/National Sport School) (9.475) and Hammond (9.075) wrapped up the scoring five.
UW-Whitewater finished out the meet on the floor exercise. Knetzke registered the top scoring routine for UWW with a 9.65 - tied for fourth in the dual. Dudziak posted a score of 9.6 with Haberstock adding a 9.5. Magel and Moore rounded out the scoring five with scores of 9.475 and 8.925 respectively.
The Warhawks have a busy week next week with a pair of meets on the road. UWW will head to Minnesota to take on Winona State Friday (6 pm) followed by a Sunday dual at Hamline (1 pm).
