The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team fell to UW-La Crosse 190.775-188.350 on the road Friday evening.
The Warhawks opened the night on the uneven bars.
Taiya Stelmachowski (Plainfield, Ill./Central) was the top Warhawk on the event with a 9.525 for fourth.
Danielle Dudziak (Lorain, Ohio/Amherst Steele) and
Ashlyn Vlcko (Plover, Wis./SPASH) tied for sixth with a 9.375 while
Estee Flom (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek) added a 9.325 and
Elaine Copeland (Arlington, Texas/University Prep) posted a 9.075.
UW-Whitewater moved on to the vault, winning the apparatus 48.125-47.975.
Brianna Balian (Peoria, Ariz./Sunrise Mountain) and
Kara Welsh (Plainfield, Ill./Central) tied for second with identical 9.700s.
Carleigh Moore (Oregon, Wis./Oregon) added a 9.675 for fourth while
Meg McGinley (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) and
Richella Velarmino (Bonney Lake, Wash./John R. Rogers) added 9.525s to the team total.
Kelsey Kolhoff took gold in the floor exercise in the third rotation with a meet-best 9.75.
Faith Mylin (Elgin, Ill./Harvest Christian Academy) tied for second with a 9.725. Moore and Welsh added 9.45 and 9.425 followed by Dudziak with a 9.275 in the event.
In the final rotation, the Warhawks headed to the beam. UWW was bolstered by Kolhoff's 9.55 that was good for fourth. Velarmino (9.4),
Sarah Knetzke (Ozark, Mo./Springfield Catholic) (9.35), Mylin (9.05) and
Shannon Chase (Middlefield, Ohio/Berkshire) (8.575) added to the team total.
UW-Whitewater returns to the Williams Center to host Hamline University February 25. The Warhawks will recognize their NCGA Academic All-Americans, UWW alumni and the 2013 and 2018 national championship teams during the meet that is slated to start at 4 pm.
