The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team picked up a pair of wins Friday afternoon and evening at the Warhawks' home indoor facility in Lake Geneva. UWW opened with a 6-3 win over Wheaton College before topping Luther College 8-1 in the nightcap.
The Warhawks captured two of three in doubles play against the Thunder.
John Zakowski (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) paired with
Luke VanDonslear (Marion, Iowa/Linn Mar) for an 8-7(4) win at No. 1 while
Tyler Nelson (Waunakee, Wis./Waunakee) combined with
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) for an 8-4 victory at No. 2.
Nelson and Lindwall secured their second wins of the day in singles competition with a 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 and 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 respectively.
Will Ulrich (Lincoln, Neb./Pius X) registered a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 5 and
Chase Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) capped the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 6.
In UWW's second match of the day, the Warhawks opened up a big lead sweeping doubles play. The Warhawks had the same pairing at No. 1 and No. 2 with
Payton Adkisson (Lincolnshire, Ill./Stevenson) and
Josh Baldwin (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) picking up the win at No. 3 8-4.
Singles play saw Zakowski,
Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove), Nelson, and Ulrich win at No. 1, 3, 4, 5 respectively.
