The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team wrapped up its 16th consecutive season of 20 or more wins Saturday with a 1-0 loss against UW-Oshkosh in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Tournament (presented by Culver's) at UW-La Crosse.

The Warhawks (20-19 overall) finished fourth in the regular season standings with a 7-7 league record, clinching the No. 4 seed in the conference tournament with two wins against UW-Eau Claire on the final day of the regular season.

UW-Whitewater's 5-2 triumph against UW-River Falls in the first game of the tournament was the 700th career win for head coach Brenda Volk, who is the only coach in league history and one of 10 active NCAA Division III coaches to reach the milestone.

Saturday's game was tied at 0-0 until the top of the seventh inning, when the Titans (26-9) produced a run on a pair of errors around a stolen base.

Centerfielder Kiarra Kostroski (Fort Atkinson, Wis./Fort Atkinson), who totaled two hits in the game, doubled with two outs in the bottom of the seventh, but was left stranded.

Left fielder Krista Sbarra (West Chicago, Ill./St. Charles East) recorded the other hit for UW-W.

Pitcher Kate Cleveland (DePere, Wis./Ashwaubenon) took the tough-luck loss, allowing two hits and one unearned run while striking out three. She finishes her season with a 7-5 record.
