The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's tennis team improved to 4-0 in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference competition with a 9-0 sweep of UW-Stevens Point Tuesday afternoon at the beautiful UW-Whitewater Outdoor Tennis Complex.
Cassie Lee (Downers Grove, Ill./Timothy Christian) and
Autumn Bruno (Milwaukee, Wis./Greenfield Whitnall) kicked off the afternoon with an 8-3 win over Quinlyn Mack and Tristin Jantz at No. 1 doubles.
Gracie Ha (Palatine, Ill./Fremd) teamed with
Bethany Marshall (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) for an 8-6 win at No. 2 while
Faith Nosek (Oconomowoc, Wis./BVA) and
Sarah Ferguson (Oak Creek, Wis./Oak Creek) wrapped up doubles play with another 8-6 victory.
In singles play,
Molly Asfeld (Waukesha, Wis./West) cruised to a 5-0, 5-0 win at No. 5 defeating Maya Kunze.
Gianna Nikoleit (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) topped Tristin Jantz 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2. Both
Kasey Schlicht (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) and Bruno registered 6-2, 6-1 victories at No. 4 and No. 1 singles respectively. The final singles bout of the match had
Courtney Day (Oshkosh, Wis./North) defeating Chloe Leithold 6-4, 6-2.
