The No. 15 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team made the most of its six individual wins Friday night in a 27-15 victory at UW-Stevens Point in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual.
 
The Warhawks (9-1 overall, 4-1 WIAC) tallied one pin, two technical falls and two major decisions to clinch the dual.
 
Alex Barbarise (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) picked up his 11th win of the year at 125 pounds with a 5-0 decision. After the Pointers (8-3, 1-3) tied the dual at 3-3, Dakarai Clay (Madison, Wis./Madison East) put UW-Whitewater ahead for good with a 13-5 major decision at 141 pounds, improving to 14-4 on the year.
 
Jake Burford (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point) stretched the UW-W advantage to 12-3 with a 22-6 technical fall at 5:08. Burford, ranked among the top 10 in the nation by both the National Wrestling Coaches Association and D3wrestle.com, pushed his season record to 16-2.
 
Following back-to-back decisions by UW-Stevens Point, Ryan Riser (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) put six points toward the Warhawks' team total with a pin at 6:07 at 174 pounds. He improved to 13-9 on the season.
 
Jaritt Shinhoster (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Barrington), ranked fifth by the NWCA and D3wrestle.com, collected a 16-0 technical fall at 4:44 for his 16th win of the year.
 
Cadin Koeppel (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove), ranked ninth in the nation by D3wrestle.com, provided the final points of the night with a 12-0 major decision at 285 pounds. He moved to 12-5 with the victory.
 
UW-Whitewater heads to the Pete Willson/Wheaton Invitational next Friday and Saturday, Jan. 28-29. Competition begins at 11 a.m. each day.
