The No. 15 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater claimed seven of the 10 bouts Wednesday night on its way to a 23-10 victory against No. 25 UW-Platteville in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual at Russell Arena.
 
After splitting the first six matches, the Warhawks (8-1 overall, 3-1 WIAC) won four straight to close the dual.
 
Jairtt Shinhoster and Chad Richards (Loves Park, Ill./Harlem) led UW-Whitewater with major decisions at 184 and 197 pounds, respectively. Shinhoster, ranked among the top five in the nation by both D3wrestle.com and the National Wrestling Coaches Association, scored a third-period takedown and added riding time for a 14-6 score. Richards surged to a 6-1 lead in the first period on his way to a 13-1 victory.
 
Ryan Riser (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park) and Cadin Koeppel (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove) each scored late for wins at 174 and 285 pounds, respectively. Riser earned an escape in the first overtime to break a 1-1 tie and held on from top position in the second overtime for a 2-1 decision. Koeppel, ranked eighth by D3wrestle.com, tallied a takedown in the third period for a 3-1 decision.
 
Alex Barbarise (Antioch, Ill./Antioch Community) started the dual by taking a 4-1 lead after two periods and hanging on for a 5-4 decision. Dakarai Clay (Madison, Wis./Madison East) gave UW-W the lead with a 10-6 decision at 141 pounds, and Jake Burford (Crown Point, Ind./Crown Point), ranked among the top 10 in the nation by both D3wrestle.com and the NWCA at 149 pounds, picked up a 6-2 decision to build on the advantage.
 
UW-Platteville (2-4, 0-3) took the next two bouts for the lead in team points, but Riser gave UW-Whitewater the lead for good at 174 pounds.
 
The Warhawks visit UW-Stevens Point Friday for a dual starting at 7 p.m.
