The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team was unable to find an offensive rhythm Wednesday afternoon in a 91-70 setback at Emory in a non-conference contest on the first day of the Emory Holiday Classic in Atlanta, Ga.
The Warhawks (8-4 overall) were held to a season-low 38.0 percent shooting from the floor while the Eagles shot 50.7 percent and tallied 52 first-half points.
Trevon Chislom (McFarland, Wis./McFarland) registered a team-best 15 points, including 11 in the first half, to go with three rebounds.
Derek Gray (Madison, Wis./La Follette) collected 13 points and five rebounds, while
Jack Brahm (Bayside, Wis./Glendale Nicolet) scored nine points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Elijah Lambert (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) tallied eight points, and
Caleb Flaten-Moore (Ixonia, Wis./Oconomowoc) finished with eight points and five rebounds off the bench.
The two teams were within one possession through the first four minutes of action before Emory (5-3) began to pull away, pushing its advantage to double digits at the 11:17 mark of the opening half.
Jameer Barker (Racine, Wis./St. Catherine's) brought UW-W within seven on a 3-pointer, but the Eagles scored 16 of the next 18 points to increase their lead to 40-19 with 4:55 on the clock.
UW-Whitewater was unable to get any closer in the remainder of the half and trailed 52-27 after 20 minutes of play.
The Warhawks outscored the Eagles 43-39 in the second half but were unable to get within 20 points at any point in the period.
UW-Whitewater closes its trip Thursday at 1 p.m. Central Time against LaGrange (Ga.).
