John Zakowski (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional singles championship Monday with a 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-5) victory against teammate Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
 
In an All-Warhawk final, Lindwall, the No. 10 seed, took the first set, before Zakowski, the No. 5 seed, leveled the match by winning the second set.
 
The championship was decided in a super tiebreaker, which was tied 3-3 before Zakowski claimed seven of the last nine points.
 
As finalists, both Zakowski and Lindwall clinched their spots at the ITA Cup, which is set for October 14-17 in Rome, Ga. Zakowski and Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) will compete in the doubles draw after claiming the regional championship Sunday.
