Final Doubles Results (Bracket)
 
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team punched three tickets to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Cup thanks to its performance Sunday at the ITA Midwest Regional at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
 
Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and John Zakowski (Green Bay, Wis./Southwest) claimed the doubles championship to garner All-America accolades. The No. 2 seeded pair finished the weekend with a 5-0 record, including four wins against top-10 seeded opponents.
 
Gray and Zakowski started the day by earning their spot at this month's ITA Cup with a thrilling 8-7(7)  victory against Gustavus Adolphus. The duo then topped No. 3 seeded Luther 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) to claim the title.
 
Zakowski will meet Cole Lindwall (Cottage Grove, Wis./Monona Grove) in Monday's singles final, which is set for 10:30 a.m. at Gustavus Adolphus, after both players advanced through quarterfinal and semifinal matches. Both Zakowski and Lindwall are 6-0 in the tournament entering Monday's final.
 
Lindwall, the No. 10 seed, defeated No. 8 Gustavus Adolphus 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (14-12) with a thrilling super-tiebreaker deciding the match. In the semifinal, he dropped the second set but won another tiebreaker in a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-3) triumph against the third seed from Gustavus Adolphus to earn his spot in the final and clinch his trip to Rome, Ga., for the ITA Cup.
 
Zakowski, the No. 5 seed, knocked off top-seeded Nick Aney of Gustavus Adolphus 6-3, 6-4 in the quarter, and sealed his place in the championship match with a 6-4, 6-2 win against unseeded Drew Elofson of Gustavus Adolphus.
 
All-America honors in singles will be on the line for Monday's final. As finalists, both players have clinched their spots at the ITA Cup, which is set for October 14-17.
