NCGA Release

Six members of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team earned recognition on the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association's first-ever All-Championship Team based on their performance during the regular season and during Saturday's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship/NCGA West Regional.

Senior Erika Briscoe (Solon, Iowa/Solon), junior Lauren Marshall (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) and freshman Abigail Missiaen (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) represent the Warhawks on vault, while senior Bailey Fitzpatrick (Burlington, Wis./Burlington) and sophomore Blaise Wilson (Thornton, Colo./Legacy) earned spots on uneven bars. Senior Franchesca Hutton (Shakopee, Minn./Main Street School of Performing Arts) was named to the All-Championship team for balance beam.

The newly-implemented All-Championship Team recognizes the top 10 from each region, on each event, based on the top five finishers in each regional tournament, plus the top five highest season average scores going into the tournament.

All honorees will be recognized at the NCGA Championship on March 23.

Briscoe earned her place in vault thanks to a 9.4875 season average score during the regular season. Marshall and Missiaen each met both requirements, ranking among the top five in regular season SAS while finishing tied for second at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. Marshall led the region with an SAS of 9.6563, while Missiaen ranked fifth with a 9.5563.

Wilson also satisfied both requirements on the uneven bars, tying for fourth over the weekend and finishing second in regular season SAS with a 9.6188. Fitzpatrick secured her spot based on regular season SAS with a 9.5125.

Hutton tied for fourth in regular season SAS on the balance beam with a 9.6375.

UW-Whitewater punched its ticket to the NCGA Championship thanks to a third-place team finish at the WIAC Championship/NCGA West Regional. Gymnasts who are on the All-Championship team who are not on qualifying teams are invited to compete as individuals at the NCGA Championship, which is set for March 23 at UW-Oshkosh.
