The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater gymnastics team used a strong all-around performance Sunday to record its highest score of the season, a 189.150, against UW-Oshkosh in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference meet at Russell Arena.
The Warhawks finished second to the Titans, who scored a 189.475, in the dual. UW-Whitewater wore pink to recognize breast cancer awareness and collected funds throughout the match to support the initiative.
UW-Whitewater recorded its second straight score of 47 or more on vault with a 47.275. Junior
Lauren Marshall (Winthrop Harbor, Ill./Zion-Benton Township) led the team and tied for first overall with a 9.675, matching her highest score of the season. Senior
Erika Briscoe (Solon, Iowa/Solon) placed third with a season-best 9.525, and freshman
Emily North (Oklahoma City, Okla./Moore) finished fifth with a career-high 9.475. Freshman
Rachel Lewellen (Ripley, Miss./Ripley) tied for eighth with a 9.350, and freshman
Abigail Missiaen (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) tallied a 9.250 to place 11th.

Abby Helmke (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) followed with a season-best 9.450, good for sixth. Fossum tied for seventh at a season-high 9.400, and sophomore
Vanessa Olinger (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township) recorded a 9.375 to place ninth.
The Warhawks concluded the meet with a 47.300 on floor exercise, led by Briscoe's career-best 9.675, good for first place overall. Hutton-Lau placed fourth with a 9.600, senior
Lewa Evans (Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) finished ninth with a 9.400 and Olinger came in 10th with a 9.375. Fossum totaled a 9.250, good for 11th.
UW-Whitewater wraps up the regular season Saturday, March 2, at 4 p.m. with another dual against UW-Oshkosh at Russell Arena. The team will honor the fifth anniversary of the 2014 national championship and recognize all its alumni in attendance, its 2018 NCGA Academic All-Americans and its five seniors – Briscoe, Evans, Fitzpatrick, Helmke and Hutton-Lau.
