The No. 13 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team faced a pair of opponents ranked among the top 10 in the nation Saturday at the Candlewood Suites Duals in La Crosse.
The Warhawks (2-3 overall) claimed four of the seven contested bouts against second-ranked Loras (Iowa), but were forced to forfeit at three weight classes in a 33-18 setback.
UW-Whitewater concluded the day with a 35-18 loss against No. 9 Coe (Iowa), splitting the eight contested matches, including one injury default, and forfeiting two other spots.

Mike Tortorice (Wauconda, Ill./Carmel), ranked No. 1 in the nation at 125 pounds by D3wrestle.com, finished 2-0 for the day, pinning Jacob Hiles of Loras at 1:09 and recording a 4-0 decision over Amier Khamis of Coe.

Devin Tortorice (Wauconda, Ill./Carmel) also finished unbeaten for the day at 149 pounds, besting Brock Parker of Loras by 4-1 decision and AJ Patterson of Coe by fall at 3:41.

Hazen Rice (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) claimed his lone match of the day at 141, topping Riley Wright of Coe by fall at 1:31. Rice is currently ranked third in the nation by D3wrestle.com.
Sophomores
Jaritt Shinhoster (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Barrington) and
Dylan Uzumecki (Batavia, Ill./Batavia) were victorious against Loras at 174 and 285 pounds, respectively. Shinhoster, ranked fifth by D3wrestle.com, earned an 8-5 decision over Jacob Krakow, who is ranked sixth in the nation. Uzumecki picked up a pin at 4:32 against Brody Tupy.
Senior
Ryder Sigler (Fredonia, Wis./Cedarburg) registered an 8-4 decision over Coe's Ryker Kurimski at 165 pounds.
The Warhawks resume action Jan. 4 at the Case Western Reserve Duals in Cleveland, Ohio.
