The No. 6 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team posted three victories by fall Wednesday night on its way to a 27-16 triumph over UW-Platteville in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual at Russell Arena.
 
The Warhawks (2-1 overall, 2-0 WIAC) started strong and finished strong, claimed three of the first four matches and three of the final four to remain unbeaten against conference competition.
 
Seniors Riley Kauzlaric (Coal City, Ill./Coal City), Devin Tortorice (Wauconda, Ill./Carmel) and sophomore Jaritt Shinhoster (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Barrington) each recorded pins to lead UW-Whitewater.
 
Shinhoster registered the fastest pin, posting his in one minute, 10 seconds at 174 pounds. He is ranked 10th in the nation by D3wrestle.com.
 
Kauzlaric, ranked second in the nation by D3wrestle.com at 197, pinned Max Schmitz in six minutes, three seconds to give the Warhawks a 24-16 lead.
 
Tortorice also tallied a third-period fall in six minutes, 25 seconds, to add six points to the team total.
 
Senior Mike Tortorice (Wauconda, Ill./Carmel), ranked No. 1 in the nation by D3wrestle.com, held a 3-1 lead after two periods before scoring four in the third for a 7-4 decision at 125.
 
Senior Hazen Rice (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg), ranked 10th by D3wrestle.com at 141 pounds, earned takedowns in the first and third periods and shut out Chase Katzenmeyer by 6-0 decision. Senior Nick Sundberg (Woodstock, Ill./Woodstock) accounted for the final margin with a 6-2 decision at 285 pounds, capping the performance with a reversal in the third period of his match.
 
UW-Whitewater heads to the CUW Open this Saturday at 9 a.m. in Mequon, Wis.
