The No. 16 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team posted a 3-1 record Friday on the first day at the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals at Kentucky Expo Center in Louisville, Ky.
The Warhawks (6-3 overall) bested Luther (Iowa) 30-12 to start the day before falling 27-16 against fifth-ranked Wabash (Ind.). The team concluded the day with two straight wins in the consolation bracket, defeating Greensboro (N.C.) by a 43-4 margin before overcoming a 15-12 deficit for a 27-15 triumph over No. 17 Olivet (Mich.).

Ryder Sigler (Fredonia, Wis./Cedarburg) and junior
Mac Casella (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) led UW-Whitewater against Luther with pins at 165 and 149 pounds, respectively.

Nick Stencel (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) recorded a first-period pin at 184 pounds to lead the Warhawks against Wabash, which led 24-7 through seven bouts. Other winners against the Little Giants included sophomore
Blake Huffmon (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) at 133 pounds, junior
Hazen Rice (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) at 141 and junior

Mike Tortorice (Wauconda, Ill./Carmel), the nation's consensus No. 3 wrestler at 125 pounds, earned a technical fall at 125. Rice and Sigler added major decisions at 141 and 165 pounds, respectively.
The Warhawks trailed Olivet after seven matches, but rattled off the dual's final 15 points on pins from Stencel at 184 and freshman
Ian Ruble (Deer Park, Wis./Clear Lake) at 285 and a decision by Kauzlaric at 197. At 125, Tortorice collected an 18-3 technical fall against Cameron Mahlich, who is listed as a Contender in the D3wrestle.com rankings. Rice registered his third major decision of the day at 141.
Huffmon, Rice, Stencel and Kauzlaric all finished unbeaten for the day.
UW-Whitewater continues action Saturday at 8 a.m. Central against 11th-ranked Coe (Iowa).
