The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team qualified three for the Round of 32 in singles and one doubles pair for the Round of 16 Friday at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional Championships at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn.
 
Senior Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East), freshmen Alex Gray (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and Ryan Mitchell (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) reached the third round of the singles draw with two victories apiece. All three will face seeded opponents in Saturday's Round of 32.
 
Engelhart, seeded 17th, shut out his opponents in three of his four sets played. Gray, also a No. 17 seed, bested St. Thomas (Minn.) and St. John's (Minn.) in consecutive matches, while Mitchell collected wins over Edgewood and No. 16 seed Kyle Wogahn of UW-La Crosse.
 
In doubles, Engelhart and Gray paired to finish 2-0 and reach the Round of 16. The duo surrendered only three games in back-to-back triumphs over Macalester (Minn.) and Grinnell (Iowa).
 
Junior Zach Wood (Downers Grove, Ill./South) and sophomore Robert Rider (Annapolis, Md./South River) bested Carthage 9-7 in their opening match before falling against the draw's No. 2 seeded pair, Patrick Whaling and Chase Johnson of Gustavus Adolphus.
