The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater wrestling team traveled to UW-Oshkosh Thursday night for a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference dual.
 
The no. 16 Warhawks (4-2, 3-0 WIAC) edged out the Titans (2-1, 2-1) 24-22 to claim their second conference victory in as many days and their eighth straight victory over UW-Oshkosh. 
 
Senior Sonny Schieldt (Edgerton, Wis./Edgerton) started off with a fall in the 157 at 4:13 against Tony Kontney.  Senior Nicholas Bonomo (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) toppled Husam Alabed in the 174 with a 13-5 major decision.  Senior Nick Stencel (Oregon, Ohio/Clay) topped off the third win of the first four matches for the Warhawks with a pin at the 0:55 mark against Colton Cashmore in the 184. 
 
The Titans claimed the next two before junior Mike Tortorice (Wauconda, Ill./Carmel) took the 125 in a 18-0 major decision over Joey Giurini.  Junior Hazen Rice (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) claimed a 12-8 decision over Zak Nelson in the 141 to clinch the dual for the Warhawks.
 
The Warhawks wrestling team takes the month off before participating in the NWCA National Duals on Jan. 4-5 in Louisville, Ky. at the Kentucky Expo Center.
