The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's and women's basketball teams will begin Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play this week after each completing 11-game non-conference schedules last week.
Tickets for home games can be purchased online at
tickets.uww.edu or at the door starting 60 minutes prior to tipoff.
Women
The Warhawk women will host UW-Stevens Point this Wednesday at 7 p.m. before visiting UW-Eau Claire Saturday for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
UW-Whitewater completed its non-league slate with a 7-4 record after splitting a pair of games at Transylvania University's Pat Deacon Classic in Lexington, Ky., last week. The team was bested 71-55 by No. 11 Trine (Ind.) before throttling Methodist (N.C.) by a 101-36 score, the program's 10th 100-plus point showing in its history and first since 2013.
The Warhawks' non-conference slate included three games against nationally ranked opponents. The team knocked off then-No. 12 Illinois Wesleyan on the road on Nov. 20 in the midst of a four-game winning streak, which also included wins over Luther (Iowa), Dubuque (Iowa) and Augustana (Ill.).
Sophomore guard
Emily Schumacher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) enters conference play as the team's leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points per game on 42.7 percent shooting. Three Warhawks check in at 8.0 or more points per game – junior guard
Becky Raeder (Sheboygan Falls, Wis./Sheboygan Falls) at 8.8, senior forward
Olivia Freckmann (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) at 8.4 and senior center
Sarah Schumacher (Whitewater, Wis./Whitewater) at 8.0.
Freckmann leads UW-Whitewater in both rebounding (8.0 per game) and steals (19). Junior guard
Camri Conley (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) is averaging 7.0 points per contest and leads the team in assists (25) and free-throw percentage (85.3).
The Warhawks are receiving votes in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 and are the preseason favorite to win the conference championship for the second consecutive season.
UW-Stevens Point enters Wednesday's game with a 4-7 record and has lost three straight, including games against Willamette (Ore.) and No. 7 Amherst (Mass.) at last week's D3hoops.com Classic in Las Vegas.
UW-Eau Claire begins conference play with a 9-2 mark, including an unblemished 5-0 record in home games. The Blugolds enter Wednesday's game against UW-River Falls on a five-game winning streak, including a victory at No. 24 Wartburg (Iowa).
Men
The 10th-ranked Warhawks enter Wednesday's game at No. 12 UW-Stevens Point with an 11-0 record. The team hosts UW-Eau Claire Saturday at 5 p.m. at Kachel Gymnasium.
UW-Whitewater's unbeaten start includes victories over nationally ranked St. John's (Minn.) on Nov. 16 and at Loras (Iowa) on Dec. 21. The team recently completed a 2-0 trip to Austin, Texas, defeating Sul Ross State and Concordia Texas by double digits.
Five Warhawks enter WIAC play averaging double figures in scoring. Senior forward
Melvin Brown Jr. (Milwaukee, Wis./Vincent) paces the team with 13.6 points to go along with a team-best 5.8 rebounds per game. Senior forward
Derek Rongstad (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) averages 13.3 points per game and owns a team-best 29 steals.
Senior guard
Malik Clements (Fitchburg, Wis./Madison West) is at 12.6 points per game, and senior guard
David Sachs (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) couples his 11.9 points per game with a team-best 63 assists, good for nearly six per game. Senior guard
Mitchell Pfeifer (Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine) averages 10.8 points per contest and is shooting 51.2 percent from 3-point range.

Andre Brown (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) is averaging 9.5 points per affair with 32 assists, and senior guard
Dalton Menke (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) is shooting 54.3 percent from 3-point range on his way to an 8.5 points-per-game average.
UW-Whitewater was picked to finish fourth in the WIAC based on a preseason poll of the league's coaches and athletic communications personnel.
UW-Stevens Point enters league play with an 8-2 mark, including wins over Cal Lutheran and Illinois Wesleyan last week in Thousand Oaks, Calif. The Pointers are the defending WIAC Tournament champions who also reached the Sweet 16 last season.
UW-Eau Claire is 7-4 entering its game Wednesday at UW-River Falls. The Blugolds split a pair of games in Nashville over the weekend, falling in overtime against Bridgewater State (Mass.) before rebounding with a 34-point win over Mt. Aloysius (Pa.).
