The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team suffered its first loss away from home of the 2018-19 season Friday, falling 71-55 against No. 11 Trine (Ind.) in a non-conference contest on the first day of the Pat Deacon Classic at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky.

With the loss, the Warhawks (6-4 overall) will face Methodist (N.C.) in Saturday's consolation final at 3 p.m. Central Time.

Trine (10-1) outscored UW-Whitewater 47-24 in the first half after the Warhawks led 31-24 at halftime. The Thunder held a 40-12 advantage on points in the paint.

Sophomore guard Emily Schumacher (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) posted a team-high 16 points thanks to four 3-pointers. Sophomore guard Adriana Green (Racine, Wis./Horlick) hit three 3-pointers on her way to an 11-point outing.

Senior forward Olivia Freckmann (Milwaukee, Wis./Pius XI) posted eight points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Junior guard Camri Conley (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) contributed seven points, and senior forward Becky Deichl (Libertyville, Ill./Libertyville) finished with six points along with three blocks. Junior guard Megan Corcoran (Madison, Wis./LaFollette) totaled six rebounds and five blocks to go along with her three points.

Schumacher and Freckmann scored 12 of the first 15 points to help the Warhawks build a five-point lead midway through the first quarter. Green increased the team's advantage to eight points by the 3:33 mark before Trine tallied the last four points of the period.

UW-Whitewater built a double-digit lead three minutes into the second quarter as Schumacher knocked down a 3-pointer to make it 26-16. The team matched its largest lead with 1:40 remaining at 31-20 on a Conley jumper, and led by seven after consecutive Thunder baskets to end the half.

Trine started the third on a 14-4 run, taking a 38-35 lead midway through the quarter. Freckmann converted a layup to cut the deficit to one and Green kept it at one possession on a pair of free throws later in the frame, but Trine hit a 3-pointer and led by five at the end of the quarter.

Deichl whittled the Warhawks' deficit to four with 7:45 left in the game before the Thunder scored the next seven points to build a 54-43 lead by the 6:24 mark.

Deichl brought UW-Whitewater back to within four with 3:32 to play, but Trine scored the next nine points for a 65-52 advantage with 1:57 on the clock.
