The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Warhawk Leadership Academy has been selected as a recipient of the Excellence Award Gold Winner by NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education.

The Leadership Academy, which formally launched in the fall of 2015, focuses on personal enhancement for freshmen and first-year student-athletes and builds into interactive programming to enhance social responsibility, career development and leadership. It includes institutional recognition of student-athlete excellence through pre-existing initiatives such as the Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete program and the annual Warhawk Awards.

The goal of the Leadership Academy is to develop, support and challenge student-athletes to become world-class leaders in athletics, academics and life.

The Academy has been recognized and presented both regionally and nationally since its inception, earning a prestigious Model Practice Award for Student-Athlete Development in 2016 from the N4A, National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (then the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics).

Last week, the N4A selected Dr. Kristina Navarro, Assistant Athletic Director for Leadership Development and Strategic Partnerships, as a recipient of the N4A Region III Professional Excellence Award.
