The No. 13 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team didn't allow a run in a pair of wins Thursday afternoon at Carroll in a non-conference doubleheader in Waukesha, Wis.
The Warhawks (25-7 overall) claimed the first game by a 3-0 count before completing the sweep with a 7-0 triumph.
Freshman
Bella Matthias (Greenfield, Wis./Greenfield) shut out the Pioneers (15-15) in Game 1, allowing only five hits and three walks while striking out seven and stranding seven runners in seven innings. She improved her record to 11-3 and now has six shutouts for the year.
Senior right fielder
Haley Morelli (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) plated all three runs and totaled three hits to lead the offense. She knocked in one run on a two-out double in the third inning and knocked a two-run homer, her 11th of the year, with two outs in the fifth inning.
Junior left fielder
Mallory Klotz (New Berlin, Wis./West) collected two hits and scored two runs, and junior second baseman
Michayla Swanson (Randolph, Wis./Randolph) contributed one hit.
In the second game, UW-Whitewater registered 12 hits to back sophomore
Julia Camardo (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove), who moved to 6-2 with her second shutout of the season. She struck out a season-high 11 batters and surrendered only four hits.
Sophomore shortstop
Kelly Berglund (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls) recorded team highs of three hits and three RBI for the Warhawks. Sophomore centerfielder
Caitlin Catino (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) posted two hits and two RBI, and Morelli and Swanson each added two hits.
Senior first baseman
Amy Ricci (Gurnee, Ill./Warren Township) and freshman catcher
Nicole Neitzel (Verona, Wis./Verona Area) contribured one RBI apiece.
UW-Whitewater resumes Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play Saturday with a doubleheader at UW-Oshkosh. First pitch of the opener is slated for 1 p.m.
