The No. 11 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team used an early second-half run Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated on the season with a 79-70 victory over Anderson (Ind.) in a non-conference contest at Kachel Gymnasium.
The Warhawks (4-0 overall) committed only nine turnovers and grabbed 16 offensive rebounds that led to 14 second-chance points, including 11 in the second half.
Junior guard
Andre Brown (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) led a balanced scoring effort with 17 points to go along with five rebounds. Junior guard
David Sachs (Highland Park, Ill./Highland Park) totaled 15 points and added four assists, and junior guard
Mitchell Pfeifer (Wales, Wis./Kettle Moraine) knocked down four 3-pointers en route to a 14-point, six-rebound effort.
Junior forward
Derek Rongstad (Middleton, Wis./Middleton) collected 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists, and junior guard/forward
Maurquis Turner (Milwaukee, Wis./King) registered seven points and a career-high 12 rebounds.
In the first half, the Ravens jumped out to a 14-11 lead eight minutes into the contest.
After Anderson converted a four-point play to take a 22-20 advantage with 7:42 on the clock, UW-Whitewater scored the next nine points, including five from Pfeifer, to take a 29-22 lead with 5:52 remaining in the period.
The Warhawks grabbed their largest lead of the half at 38-28 after a pair of free throws by junior guard
Dalton Menke (Rockford, Ill./Winnebago) with 3:48 to go, but the Ravens closed the half on a 10-2 run to narrow their deficit to 40-38.
UW-Whitewater came out of the locker room and scored seven of the first nine points in the second half and had a double-digit lead at 54-43 with 14:09 to play.

Scotty Tyler (Grafton, Wis./Grafton) with 11:45 on the clock.
The Ravens continued to chip away at the UW-Whitewater advantage, whittling it down all the way to seven by the 7:47 mark.
Sachs responded with a 3-pointer on the next possession, but Anderson charged back again to bring its deficit to five with 5:17 remaining.
Tyler scored the next four points to build the Warhawk lead to nine, and the Ravens got no closer than six the rest of the way.
UW-Whitewater has now won 21 consecutive non-conference games played in the regular season.
The Warhawks head to California next weekend for a two-day tournament at Redlands. The team kicks off competition Friday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. Central Time against Caltech.
