The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team advanced to the third round of the NCAA Division III tournament with a 5-1 win over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Saturday at Tao Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri on the campus of Washington University.

The doubles pairs of Jake Humphreys (Kenosha/Tremper)/Michael Treis (Brookfield, Wis./Brookfield Central) and Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial)/Jimmy Engelhart (Brookfield, Wis./East) gave the Warhawks a 2-1 lead at the conclusion of doubles play. Humphreys and Treis topped the number one doubles pair from RHIT 8-3 to win their sixth straight match and improve to 19-8. Schnarr and Engelhart, playing together for just the second time all season, won 8-4 at three doubles to move to 2-0 this year.

Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) topped his RHIT counterpart at four singles 6-3, 6-2 to give the Warhawks a 3-1 lead. Navratil is now 23-6 overall and 7-1 when playing in the four spot.

Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) won his six singles match 6-3, 6-2 to improve to 15-7 this year and give the Warhawks a 4-1 advantage.

Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at three singles. Raman moves to 18-13 this season with the win.

Since the match is played to decision, the remaining singles matches were not finished.

The Warhawks, 23-6, advance to take on host, 10th-ranked WashU, at noon on Sunday. These two teams met a month ago in St. Louis with the Bears taking a 5-4 victory. This is the third time in school history that the Warhawks have advanced to round three; the first since 2011. Coincidentally, WashU knocked the Warhawks out of the tournament that year.
