Box Score Related Links:Box Score The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's basketball team suffered a 73-68 defeat against UW-River Falls Saturday night in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.
The Warhawks (12-7 overall, 3-5 WIAC) were up seven points after the first half, but were outscored 42-30 in the second half due to the Falcons shooting nearly 60 percent from the field, including 50 percent from behind the arc.
UW-Whitewater had two players score in double figures. Senior guard
Trinson White (Milwaukee, Wis./Riverside) led the way with a game high 24 points, to go along with eight rebounds, followed by freshman guard
Andre Brown (Kenosha, Wis./Indian Trail) with 14 points. Brown also had five rebounds and two steals on the night.
Junior guard
Haki Stampley (Milwaukee, Wis./Hamilton) finished the night with nine points, to go along with two rebounds, an assist and one rebound. Senior
Isaac Quinn (Kenosha, Wis./Tremper) led the team with seven points off the bench shooting 3-of-4 in 18 minutes of play.
The Warhawks shot just over 45 percent from the field in the first half, including 40 percent from the behind the arc. At the 3:00 minute mark UW-Whitewater saw its largest lead of the game (17) dwindle away before half time. The Falcons (12-7 overall, 6-2 WIAC) went on a 11-to-1 run to close out the half and get back within single digits going into the second half.
UW-River Falls got to within three points several times in the second half before UW-Whitewater built its lead back to ten points on a Brown lay-up with 12:19 to play. The Falcons first lead of the game came with 2:45 left on the clock, a lay-up and multiple free-throws helped UW-River Falls close out the game.
UW-Whitewater will be back in action on Wednesday Feb. 3rd where they will go on the road to take on UW-Stevens Point. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
