Related Links:Box Score The No. 25 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team cruised Friday to a 9-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh in a dual match at Regis High School in Eau Claire, Wis.
The Warhawks (17-7), who are also ranked sixth in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, didn't allow more than two games in any set in singles play.
The Titans felt to 6-12 with the loss.
UW-Whitewater earned all three points in doubles. Junior
Matt Bisbee (Chicago, IL/Marist) and freshman
Zane Navratil (Racine, Wis./The Prairie School) earned an 8-2 victory at No. 3, while sophomores
Martin Beck (Minneapolis/South) and
Scott Butler (Eagan, MN/Eagan) tallied an 8-3 triumph at the second position.
At No. 1, junior captain
Michael Schnarr (Madison/Memorial) and sophomore
Rithwik Rajshekhar Raman (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-India/SAIDS British Education) improved to 8-3 playing together in doubles with a 9-8 (3) win.
Schnarr didn't allow a game at No. 4 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph. Bisbee and freshman
Matt Zurowski (West Bend, Wis./East) were victorious at Nos. 5 and 6 singles, respectively, by identical 6-2, 6-1 scores.
Senior
Ben Shklyar (Deerfield, IL/Deerfield) picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3. At the first position, Raman was a 6-1, 6-2 winner, and Navratil posted a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at the second slot.
The Warhawks will take on two more Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schools Saturday in Eau Claire. UW-Whitewater will face UW-La Crosse, ranked 14th in the region, at 9 a.m. at Regis High School. The Warhawks continue play at 1 p.m. at UW-Eau Claire, the No. 15 team in the region.
