LA CROSSE, Wis. - Sophomore all-arounder
Katie Fiorilli (Solon, OH/Solon) won three events including the all-around competition to lead UW-Whitewater to a 185.575-185.025 win over UW-La Crosse on the road Friday evening.
Fiorilli registered the top vault of the night with a score of 9.700, tied for the twelfth-best mark in school history. Teammate
Chloe Rehberg (Cary, IL/Cary-Grove) followed in second with a 9.600.
Courtney Pickett (Brentwood, TN/Brentwood) tied for third (9.525) and
Hannah Lee (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville) (9.475) and
Lewa Evans (Milwaukee, WI/Whitefish Bay) (9.450) rounded out the scoring Warhawks in fifth and sixth place respectively. UW-Whitewater's team total of 47.750 ties for ninth-best in program history.
UW-Whitewater gymnasts posted the top two scores on the balance beam led by Fiorilli's 9.500. Event specialist
Kristen Shackleton (New Lenox, IL/Lincoln Way Central) was second with a 9.400. Lee tied for fourth in the event with a routine scoring 9.050.
Pickett led the charge on the floor exercise with a 9.375 for second. Fiorilli and
Steffi Heuer (Clarksville, TN/Middle College at APSU) added fifth and sixth place finishes respectively with scores of 9.325 and 9.275.
Cici Talcott (Kentwood, MI/East Kentwood) was the top Warhawk on the uneven bars finishing third with a total of 9.400.
Grayson Esslinger (Oshkosh, WI/Oshkosh West) posted a 9.225 for sixth.
Fiorilli notched her third title of the night in the all-around with a total of 37.625 to lead the group of four gymnasts competing on all four apparatus. Pickett was fourth with a total of 36.625.
The Warhawks will host UW-Oshkosh for their final regular season meet of the year Feb. 28 beginning at 4 p.m. UW-Whitewater will recognize the seniors during the meet.
