Warhawks Host Annual Play4Kay Day

The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team will host their annual Play4Kay day Saturday against UW-Stout beginning at 3 p.m. The Warhawks host this event each year to raise funds toward the fight against breast cancer.

Play4Kay and the Kay Yow Cancer fund work in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and The V Foundation to find a cure for women's cancers. The charitable organization raises money for research, assisting those affected with cancer and unifying people for a common cause.

UW-Whitewater will be selling pink t-shirts for $10 with all proceeds going to Play4Kay. Additional donations will be accepted and sent along with the proceeds from t-shirt sales.

At halftime of the game, the Warhawks will recognize five breast cancer survivors. Katie Frisbie, Bonnie Wennerstrom, Cindy Thill, Sandra Mascari-Devitt and Ivy Miles each hold connections with UW-Whitewater and Warhawk Athletics and will be recognized at center court as their stories are shared.

The women's basketball team will also recognize senior manager Jalen Capesius during the game. Jalen, a manager for three seasons, has spent countless hours behind the scenes prepping the gym for practice, running the clock during practice sessions and filming.

Saturday's game in Whitewater, along with three other WIAC match-ups taking place around the league, will determine the seeding for the WIAC Championship to begin next week. The Warhawks secured their entry into the championship with a win Wednesday at UW-Oshkosh.
