The Warhawks (0-2 overall, 0-1 WIAC) took an early 6-0 lead and led 16-9 with three matches to go, but were unable to secure a 19th straight conference victory.
Freshman
Zachary Hasselberger (Stoughton, Wis./Stoughton) started the match with a 4-3 win by decision over Clay Lieber of the Pointers (2-0, 2-0).
Senior
Matt Adcock (Bloomingdale, Ill./Lake Park), the nation's consensus No. 2 wrestler at 141, earned a 2-0 decision over UW-Stevens Point's Jared Kust to give UW-Whitewater a 6-0 advantage.
After a pair of wins by the Pointers tied the match, the Warhawks won three straight matches.
Senior
Tom Gerszewski (Crystal Lake, Ill./Crystal Lake South), listed as a contender by D3wrestle.com, started the run with a 6-1 decision at 165 pounds. Sophomore
Connor Price (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) added a 4-3 decision at 174 to make it 12-9.
Freshman
Nicholas Bonomo (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove North) earned four team points for UW-Whitewater with a 16-3 major decision at 184 pounds.
The Warhawks return to action Saturday at the Wisconsin Open. Competition at UW-Parkside is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
