The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team will host a pair of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes this week.
The Warhawks, 7-7 overall and 2-3 in league play, will face UW-Eau Claire Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Eagles of UW-La Crosse are set to visit Kachel Gym Saturday at 3 p.m.
UW-Whitewater has won three of its four contests in 2015 led by freshman guard
Brooke Trewyn (Whitewater/Whitewater) who averages 12.0 points, sixth best in the WIAC, and 5.1 rebounds per game. The starter connects on nearly 50 percent of her opportunities from the field, is tied for the second most made three-pointers this season with 15 and leads the team in steals with 14. In the last three games, Trewyn has registered 51 points on 18-26 from the field and 12-14 from the free throw line.
In the backcourt,
Malia Smith (Bolingbrook, Ill./Neuqua Valley) has earned a spot in the starting rotation at point guard for the last six games. The freshman registered a break-out game in UW-Whitewater's 71-59 loss to the league's top team, UW-Superior a week ago. Smith knocked down 5-10 from the field and 5-6 from the charity stripe for 15 points and added three assists and two steals.
Junior shooting guard
Abbie Reeves (Salem/Westosha Central) provides a deep threat for the Warhawks. Reeves leads the league with 29 three's this season shooting nearly 40 percent from behind the arc, fourth best in the WIAC. She is listed in the top 20 in the conference statistics averaging 10.1 points per game.
Sophomore forward
Lisa Palmer (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) continues to lead the team in rebounding with 8.1 per contest, second best in the league. Her 6.57 rebounds on the defensive glass per contest is the best among all conference players this season. Palmer also leads the team in assists with 25 and blocks with 13.
Junior guard/forward
Maddie Bare (Fort Atkinson/Fort Atkinson) has seen a considerable increase in playing time in the Warhawks' most recent games. Against UW-River Falls January 3, Bare posted 11 points and added four assists for her best performance of the season.
The Warhawks have a three-person rotation set in the paint led by 7.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game from freshman

Kate McKay (Mendota Heights, Minn./Henry Sibley) adds 6.4 points and 3.6 boards per contest while junior center
Emily Jensen (Wauwatosa/Wauwatosa East) sees over 14 minutes of court time per game.
UW-Whitewater is ranked third in scoring offense (69.4), seventh in scoring defense (64.7), second in free throw percentage (.709), fourth in field goal percentage (.422), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.332) and second in rebounding margin (+7.6) in the WIAC this season.
Last WeekThe Warhawks split a pair of conference road games last week falling to the league's top team, UW-Superior 71-59 last Wednesday and defeating UW-Stout 74-69 Saturday.
The Yellowjackets knocked down 62.5 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half to take a 39-22 lead at the half. The Warhawks hit 50 percent of their shots in the second half and the defense held UW-Superior to 38.5 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes but were forced to foul in the final minutes and the Yellowjackets sealed the game from the line. Smith and Trewyn led UW-Whitewater with 15 points each and combined for five assists and eight rebounds.
Against UW-Stout, the Warhawks registered their tenth straight win over the Blue Devils. Trailing for much of the game, the UW-Whitewater defense held Stout scoreless for more than six minutes in the second half to take over the lead. The Warhawks were 19-29 from the free throw line in the game including 7-8 in the final two minutes to seal the win.

Last week, the Blugolds topped
UW-La Crosse 66-46 and UW-Stout 66-49 led by back-to-back 17 point games from senior forward Courtney Lewis. She added 11 boards and six assists in UW-EC's most recent win over the Blue Devils.
UW-Eau Claire is led by Lewis' 12.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game, all top 12 marks in the league statistics. Junior guard Teenie Lichtfuss adds 11.9 points and 2.4 steals per contest.
Senior guard Kristin Sahr bolsters the league's best three-point shooting team knocking down 44.4 percent of her shots from behind the arc.
In the paint, the Blugolds are led by junior center Rachel Egdorf and sophomore forward Ellen Blacklock who are 1-2 in the WIAC statistics with 22 and 19 blocks this season respectively.
In the league, Eau Claire ranks fifth in scoring offense (63.8), third in scoring defense (58.5), sixth in free throw percentage (.668), second in field goal percentage (.425), first in three-point field goal percentage (.357) and seventh in rebounding margin (+2.7).
The Blugolds lead the all-time series 46-33 but the Warhawks have won the last six meetings. UW-Whitewater is 15-13 against Eau Claire under head coach

UW-Whitewater vs. UW-La Crosse, Saturday at 3 p.m. in Kachel GymThe Eagles (6-8, 1-4) bring a two game losing streak into the week and have lost seven of their last ten outings.
Most recently, UW-La Crosse saw a 16 point advantage disappear in a 64-59 loss to UW-Superior. The Yellowjackets outscored UW-L 46-30 in the second half to seal the win.
Rachel Atchison leads the Eagle offense with 11.5 points per game and bolsters the defense with a team leading 37 steals. The sophomore forward is the team's deep ball threat with 25 three-pointers this season, 18 more than her next closest teammate.
Sophomore center MaKenzie Miller adds 10.9 points per contest knocking down 49.2 percent of her shots from the field and leads the Eagles with 99 rebounds, an average of 7.1. Miller is tied with junior forward Cameron Chapin for the team lead in blocks with 18.
The Eagles are listed at eighth for scoring offense (59.3), sixth for scoring defense (61.8), eighth in free throw percentage (.630), eighth in field percentage (.375), eighth in three-point field goal percentage (.262) and sixth in rebounding margin (+2.9).
The Warhawks lead the series 50-29 and have won the last five meetings. Under Coach Carollo, the Warhawks are 17-8 against the Eagles.
