The Teams...
UW-Whitewater, 25-6, won the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season title and was second in the league tournament. After receiving a bid into the tournament, the Warhawks topped Wisconsin Lutheran College 68-48 in the first round and Carthage College 71-51 to advance to sectionals. A 76-63 win over Simpson gave UW-W entry into the sectional final and the win over Hope brought Whitewater back to the Final Four. The Warhawks are led by senior center Cortney Kumerow (Bartlett, IL/South Elgin) and junior guard Kaitlyn Thill (Belgium/Ozaukee). Kumerow became the second player in UW-W history to record 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 100 blocked shots. Thill became the school's all-time steals leader and she enters the final four just four steals short of breaking the WIAC career record. Thill is also the second woman in UW-W history to earn WIAC All-Defensive Team honors three times. The Warhawks won the WIAC regular season championship for the third time under head coach Keri Carollo. This is the Warhawks second final four appearance under Carollo, the first one also went to Holland, Michigan, where they placed third. Carollo's Warhawk team was the highest scoring team in the WIAC this season with just over 70 points per game.

The Warhawks will face Amherst College, 30-1 and the 2011 NCAA III champions, had a share of the New England Small College Athletic Conference and won their fourth consecutive league tournament title. The Jeffs topped Farmingdale State 67-39 and the University of New England in the regional. Amherst topped Tufts 47-42 in the first game of sectionals and used a 59-45 win over Widener to advance to the final four. Amherst is led by senior guard Marcia Voigt with nearly thirteen points per game. Head coach G.P. Gromacki has taken his Jeffs to the final four in five (five consecutive) of his six season's leading Amherst. Gromacki also posts the highest career winning percentage of any active NCAA head coach (345-50, .873).

DePauw University remains unbeaten this season, 32-0. The Tigers won the regular season and North Coast Athletic Conference tournament. DePauw's regional victories started with a 73-43 rout of La Roche and ended with a 78-51 win over Maryville (TN). In the sectional rounds, the Tigers topped Washington University-St. Louis 59-42 and advanced to the NCAA tournament semifinal with a 76-55 win over Christopher Newport for the third time in school history. DePauw is led by junior forward Alex Gasaway averaging 13.6 points per game. Kris Huffman is in her 20th season as head coach of the Tigers and was named NCAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. She is also the programs most winning coach (464-102). The 33 wins broke a school record for wins in a season, previous was 31 by the 2007 national championship team.

Williams College, 26-5, is slated to take on DePauw in the final four. The Ephs shared the NESCAC regular season title with Amherst and advanced through the regional with a 79-59 win over Scranton and 68-60 rout of Rochester (NY). WC topped Ithaca 64-60 in overtime and defeated Whitman 63-53 to advance to Holland, Michigan. The Ephs are led by NESCAC Player of the Year senior forward Claire Baecher with fourteen points per game. Williams College also has their most winning coach in school history at the helm, Pat Manning (405-178). Manning is in her 22nd season leading The Ephs, and taking them to their first final four in the 39 year history of the program.
