The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater men's tennis team raised its record to 26-5 with a pair of 9-0 wins Thursday at the Four Lakes Athletic Club in Elkhorn, Wisconsin. The Warhawks swept Illinois Wesleyan University 9-0 in an afternoon match and Elmhurst College 9-0 Thursday evening. UW-W has won eighteen of its last nineteen matches.

Whitewater's number one doubles team may have taken a step closer to individual qualifying for the NCAA III championship tournament with the win over IWU. The UW-W duo of
Mitch Osborne (Crystal Lake, IL/Central) and
Byron Balkin (Madison/Memorial) came into the match ranked sixth in the Central Region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, and their opponents, Brian Piotrowski and Brian Sorich came in ranked fourth. Balkin and Osborne upped their record to 25-2 with the win. Whitewater's number two tandem,

Ethan Niquet (Waukesha/Marquette), are 22-3, and
Charlie Miller (Marengo, IL/MCHS) and

Elmhurst is 9-10 in dual meets.

Charlie Miller (Marengo, IL/MCHS), the team's lone senior, in the break between the IWU and Elmhurst matches.
UW-W has concluded its regular season, and now will await word on NCAA postseason competition. The Warhawks will be looking for their fifth consecutive national tournament berth. The NCAA sponsors a team tournament, which begins with regional play May 13-15, and an individual tournament that includes singles and doubles play. UW-W hosted a regional last year. The individual tourney, finals only, will be played May 27-29 in Claremont, California.
