Records Fall as Tumblers Top Blugolds

The Warhawk gymnastics team posted the first 190 total team score in school history and set multiple school records in a 190.05-185.10 win over UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon in Whitewater, Wisconsin.

The Warhawks combined as a team to make their mark in the UW-W record book in all four events.

UW-W's 47.925 team score in the vault takes over the top spot in the Whitewater record book. The Warhawks took five of the top six spots in the event including Allison Nelson (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley)'s 9.675 that won the vault and ties for eighth in the UW-W record book. Katrin Finch (Boise, ID/Boise) tied for second posting a 9.625. The other scoring marks for Whitewater were Siri Wischmann (Delano, MN/Delano) with a 9.600, Katie Thompson (Kingsport, TN/Sullivan South) recorded a 9.550, and Leah Applin (Brooklyn Park, MN/Champlin Park) added a 9.475.

Keeping the momentum going, UW-W moved to the uneven parallel bars in the second rotation. Allyse Dieringer (Germantown, WI/Germantown) led Whitewater with a first place finish recording a 9.725 that also is second in the UW-W record book. Mary Kate Young (Lawrenceville, GA/Cullins Hill) tied for second with a 9.550. Thompson (9.525), Annie Mix (Olive Branch, MS/SBEC) (9.450) and Lauren Corrigan (Clarksville, TN/Clarksville) (9.225) rounded out the scores in the bars. As a team, the scoring five totaled 47.475, also the top bars mark in the UW-W record book.

Dieringer and Thompson tied for top honors in the balance beam, each recording a 9.700, a score that ties for fourth best in the UW-W record book. The Warhawks team beam score of 46.500, which ties for eighth in the school record book, was compiled with scores from Dieringer, Thompson, Finch (9.400), Wischmann (9.050) and Applin (8.650).

Whitewater didn't miss a beat going into the floor exercise holding five of the top six spots to total a 48.150 team score that takes over second place in the UW-W record book. Thompson recorded her second 9.700 of the meet to tie for top honors in the event. Finch posted a 9.650 for third, Wischmann added a 9.625, Young contributed a 9.600 and Kaitlyn Weber (Kansas City, MO/Oak Park) rounded out the scoring for Whitewater with a 9.575.

Thompson kept the record breaking theme going scoring a 38.475 in the all-around to lead all competitors in the meet and break the UW-W mark of 38.425 set by Justine Weyer (Colgate/Germantown) March 8, 2008.

Whitewater and Eau Claire teamed up to support Breast Cancer Awareness with each team sporting a pink theme in the annual Breast Cancer Awareness meet.

The Warhawks will travel to La Crosse Friday, February 11 for a 6:30 meet against UW-La Crosse.
