Box Score UW-Whitewater held UW-La Crosse to 13 points on 17% shooting from the floor in the first half on the way to a 60-45 win at Kachel Gym in Williams Center Wednesday night. UW-W upped its record to 7-0 overall and 2-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, La Crosse is 5-2 and 1-1 in league play.

La Crosse had an early 10-4 lead with 16:22 on the clock, but that was erased by a 9-0 Whitewater run that gave UW-W a 13-10 lead with 10:39 left. La Crosse never regained the lead. With the score knotted at 13-13, UW-W ran off twelve unanswered points, nine of them by senior center
Chris Davis (Madison/East), to take a 25-13 lead into the lockerroom.
Whitewater shot 37% in the first twenty minutes and had just three turnovers to nine for the Eagles.
Whitewater went up 31-16 with 17:43 left in the game, and UW-L whittled that down to five, 39-34 at 9:52. UW-W out-scored La Crosse 17-6, including a 5-0 spurt, to make it 56-40 with 2:14 left.
UW-W brought its field goal percentage up to 45% for the game and La Crosse improved to 28%. The Warhawks forced twice as many turnovers, 8 to 16.
Davis led both teams with 23 points, and shared game rebounding honors with teammate
Luke Knoble (Boscobel/Boscobel), a junior forward, with eight. Knoble also contributed 11 points. Sophomore guard
Alex Merg (Greendale/Greendale) dished out a game high four assists. UW-L was led by freshman guard Jack Taylor's 17 points, the only Eagle in double figures. Freshman forward Lucas Collom topped UW-L with seven boards.
The Warhawks will travel to Eau Claire Saturday, part of a string of five consecutive road games for UW-W. The next home game in Kachel Gym in Williams Center will be January 4 at 7:00, with Edgewood College visiting Whitewater.
