Marian scored the first basket of the game, but Whitewater senior center Chris Davis (Madison/East) set the tone for the evening by following with the next five points in a 14-0 run on the way to a 20-4 lead with 10:19 left in the first half.  At that point Marian was 2-13 from the floor.  UW-W rolled to a 45-19 halftime lead.  Davis scored 22 points, just two off his season average, in the half as Whitewater shot 60% from the field.  Marian shot 25% from the floor, and just 1-11 from three point range.  Junior guard Jeff Harris led Marian with six points.

The halftime lead slimmed and bulged in the second half, but never enough to prevent UW-W coach Pat Miller from getting eleven guys on a roster shortened by the flu into the game, with ten of them entering the scoring column.  Whitewater's largest lead of the game was 69-34 with 6:47 left, and the closest the Sabres got was 72-51 with 1:05 remaining.

UW-W shot 49% for the game and Marian 35%, with Whitewater hitting 5-19 threes and MU 2-18.  The Warhawks had a season high five blocked shots, with freshman guard Quardell Young (Kenosha/Bradford) credited with two.  Davis ended up with 31 points on 13-18 shooting, with sophomore guard Cody Odegaard (Poynette/Poynette) and junior forward Luke Knoble (Boscobel/Boscobel) were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.  Young led both teams, and set a team season high, with seven assists, and Davis led both teams with 11 rebounds.  Freshman forward Mike Keller led Marian with 14 points, going 5-9 from the field and 4-4 from the line.  Sabre leading scorer Cody Veleke, averaging 17.8 points coming into the game, was held to four points and number two scorer Jeff Harris, averaging 16.9, scored all of his six in the first half.

Marian is 2-8.
