The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater has earned a berth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III championship tournament. The Warhawks, 20-7, will host first and second round games Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6. The first game Friday at 5:30 will match Carthage College, 22-4, and Northland College, 18-8. UW-W will host the University of Saint Thomas (MN), 21-7, in the second game Friday at 8:00. All games will be played in the Kachel Gym in Williams Center on the UW-W campus. The winners of Friday's games will meet Saturday at 7:00 for the right to advance to regional play March 12-13. The final four teams will gather at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois March 19-20.
Tickets for the games are $8 for adults and $3 for youth and students (college with school ID and younger).
UW-Whitewater, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion, is making its thirteenth appearance in a national championship appearance. UW-W has earned berths the last three years, advancing to the final four and finishing third in 2008.
