The UW-Whitewater men's basketball team, ranked thirteenth in the d3hoops.com poll, ran away from the Loras College Duhawks 90-54 Friday night at the Williams Center.

The Warhawks jumped in front of Loras in the first half, opening with a 15-0 lead. UW-W's lead would never diminish below 13 points for the rest of the game. Whitewater increased their lead to 31 at one point in the first half and went into halftime with 51-23 lead.
Phil Negri (Minocgua/Lakeland), going 7-8 from the floor, led the offensive charge with 18 of his 21 points coming in the first half.
The second half followed suit with the Warhawk defense standing their ground coupled with an explosive offense the Duhawks couldn't handle. UW-W gradually built their lead through the half extending their advantage to 38, 86-48 with 5:52 left in the game. Whitewater ended the contest with a 36 point advantage 90-54.
Negri led all scorers with 21 points and also led both with eight assists. Three others joined Negri in double figures including
Dustin Mitchell (Lac Du Flambeau/Lakeland) with 18,
DJ Dantzler (Joliet, IL/Joilet Township West) added 12, and
Mike Bendall (Oconomowoc/Oconomowoc) pitched in 11. Mitchell led all players with eight rebounds.
The Warhawks shot 69% from the field in the first half. UW-W's defense forced 21 Loras turnovers and recorded 12 steals in the game.
Tim Kelly was the lone double figure scorer for the Duhawks with 15 points.
Whitewater improves to 4-0 on the season as Loras drops to 2-3.
UW-W will play Grinnell College at 5:00 pm Saturday, November 28 in the Kachel Gymnasium in Williams Center.
