Twice as Nice Tuesday for Warhawk Wrestlers

It works for Taco Bell, so why not Warhawk wrestling?  Warhawk wrestling UW-Whitewater, ranked nineteenth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll, traveled to Chicago Tuesday night and won twice, defeating host University of Chicago 26-16 and Calumet College-Saint Joseph 45-9.

Sean Pietrzyk (Salina, KS/Salina South), 5-1 this season at 184, led the Warhawks, winning both of his matches by fall in a total of just of three minutes.  Four of Pietrzyk's wins have been pins.  He shares the team lead in that category with Zarate.  Kyle Wachholder (Salem/Westosha Central) won twice, including a pin, at 133 to up his record to 4-2; Austin Bautista (Des Plaines, IL/Maine East), ranked second in Division III at 141 won his matches, adding a pin, to increase his record to 7-1; Corey Schmidt (Homewood, IL/Homewood Flossmoor) won twice to improve to 6-3 at 165, and James Zarate (Waukesha/North) won twice at 285.  Zarate won a match in OT and once by pin.  He leads the team in wins at 10-4.

Whitewater is 2-1 in dual meets this season.  The Warhawks next competition will be December 2 at UW-Eau Claire.  The next home meet will be Tuesday, December 10 with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh visiting Williams Center for a 7:00 match.
