Joe Carollo began in 2007 as an assistant with the women’s basketball program. Since Carollo joined the staff, the Warhawks have won seven WIAC championships and two conference tournament titles, and have reached the NCAA Division III Tournament national semifinals four times, national runner-up finishes in 2013 and 2022.
Following the 2017-18 season, when UW-Whitewater swept the WIAC regular season and tournament championships for the first time in program history, Carollo and the rest of the assistant coaching staff was named Division III Women's Staff of the Year by the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association.
Carollo played at UW-Stout from 1991-1995 and followed that up as a student coach for the Blue Devils during the 1995-1996 season. He was an assistant coach at UW-La Crosse for two years before returning to UW-Stout as the head assistant from 1998-2002.
Carollo then moved to UW-Whitewater, where he was an assistant for the men’s team from 2002-2007.
Carollo served as the manager of Whitewater Country Club from 2007-14.
In addition to his coaching duties, Carollo is an assistant in intercollegiate athletics and instructor in the HPERC department, teaching courses in the Coaching and Sport Management minors.
