Fassbender broke Tom Hoffman's 53-year-old school record in the 10,000-meter run with an outstanding performance Friday at Washington University's Distance Carnival. His time of 29:45.93 leads the WIAC and ranks fifth in NCAA Division III. Fassbender finished fifth in the race out of 82 runners in a field that included several Division I competitors.
