Theel was the Warhawk men's track and field team's top performer in the 400-meter dash during the 2020 indoor season, clocking a season-best 51.40 in the race to finish 19th at the WIAC Indoor Championships. He was also a part of the team's 4x400-meter relay, which placed fifth at the conference meet. During his career, Theel was a part of five 4x400 relays that finished among the top six in the conference. He owns a career-best time of 49.76 seconds in the 400. Theel is majoring in criminology.
